Adare and Beyond

Returning to adare and west limerick

2014

Having been derailed in earlier years by the mundane pressures of life, I now find myself with the luxury of time to revisit my past. This renewed exploration has brought a deeper awareness of the muses that have shaped my creative voice.

Returning to Adare and West Limerick, I realised how this village, and its surrounding landscape, call to mind evocative and beautiful memories from time spent here. Among those memories are the grazing cattle, the heavy rich soil and the distant haze of the Golden Vale. The distinctive architecture of Adare village instils a sense of appreciation for a time when life was of a much slower pace. These memories bring with them a sense of the tangible nature of place, and particularly the relationship connecting the environment with its inhabitants. In this body of work, I explore the impressions the past leaves behind, inviting the viewer to inhabit, however briefly, the spirit of that particular place and time.
